Unlike the last pin I did, this one really works.
While the water is heating up, add the food coloring (one per pot, obviously) I really didn't want to waste energy and pots so we chose blue.
We cooked the macaroni until done, and drained it. Then added the cheese. That was the fun part because it turned green.
The colors aren't as bright as the pin, but what do you expect? mine aren't photo shopped.
Starting February 25th 2012, My family and I are going to see how many "pins" from Pintrest.com we can do in a year.

Crayola Color Bubbles

http://pinterest.com/pin/115897390380775415/
So We've had these for a while and the girls were excited to finally get to try them out. We were at my moms last weekend and I realized I never posted this! The bubble solution itself is very bright and colorful.
Hannah of course, chose yellow
Do you see any color??? Yep, neither do we!
Hailey took the pink.
Same thing- No color!!! The purple was slightly colored, but only at the stops where the bubbles gooped.
When they landed in the water, they looked a little more colorful
But nothing like the packaging claims. All in all this was a great lesson to the girls about marketing and how they make something look amazing and the products don't work.

There wasn't much to the original source- We weren't sure if this was an "eat it as a fun dinner thing" I mean, we assumed. But you know what they say when you "ass-u-me" something right? That you shouldn't ;)
So we put the noodles in zip loc bags with colored water and let them absorb color.
After they dried. We really weren't sure what to do with them.
So we cooked them thinking they would be a really cool looking dinner. While they were cooking we noticed the water was turning green. Alas, the colors didn't stay on our noodles.
I do remember now that for Saint Patricks day I put the food coloring in the water and THAT'S how we got it to go green. However if you want more than one color you're really wasting your water/electricity dying and cooking each color separately.
Honestly.... I Think this was an "art" piece...not a dinner idea.

First you need to bake sugar cooke dough onto a greased pizza pan. I used a pre made dough. We rolled our dough out onto the cookie sheet and I baked it at 325 (just under the recommended temperature because it's a little thicker) for about 25 minutes until the edges were golden brown. While it was cooling we made some icing. Cut up the strawberries and wash the blueberries. Set aside. It was pointed out to me that Banana's looked more yellow than white and I couldn't use them. I love six year olds :)

Rapunzel's Floating lantern
http://www.littlethingscreations.blogspot.com/2011/10/craft-day-rapunzel-tangled-diy-lanterns.html
http://pinterest.com/pin/195765915022918821/edit/
We just finished our "Movie day" complete with nachos and popcorn. The movie, was Tangled. I love that movie. I mean, obviously with my pascal stuffed animal in the kitchen ;) After the movie Hailey asked if we could make a floating lantern all of our own. Now, I don't want it to really float, but it would be fun to make a lantern for them.
I found a template for the star in a google search, and printed it out. Using scissors I carefully cut out the black. We didn't have tissue paper, but we did have light colored paper, which is thinner than construction paper and would "glow" when we put the light under it. We glued it in and stapled the back together. For extra fun, we added a glow stick which is safer for the girls so they can play with them. They will shine better once it's night.

House Rules

I'd always seen this on pintrest and thought how nice. Last night I typed up my own, using Word. (found directions here:
http://pinterest.com/pin/195765915022900265/
http://simplesisterblog.blogspot.com/2011/05/fast-and-fabulous-teacher-gift.html)
It really wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. I just wrote in my list of rules, changed the fonts, kept them on one line (re sizing certain fonts) and changed the colors randomly. The girls and I sat down and talked about it a little bit. Then we taped it (because I'm out of frames) to the back of a cabinet that faces our living room. This way it's always visible.

Our other pin of the day is not as fancy as the original bloggers. I'm sure if I had had spare scrapbook paper it would have been awesome. But it's simple and gets the point across. We're working with the girls to think before they say something. I.e: will it hurt someones feelings, etc.. We hung this one in their room where the most arguments happen. Wish us luck!

My Husband just put away all the Rockstars and left us the cardboard container. I remember seeing this pin. We set to work on our maze. After cutting some straws up, we taped them down. The girls set the marble into play and...well, sadly they weren't entertained whatsoever. It worries me that kids nowadays aren't impressed unless it costs money (and sadly, I have to add my girls into this mix!)

We are book junkies, I love to read and am really encouraging my daughters to become active readers also. Thanks to our local library's Summer Reading Program they are more interested in reading to earn prizes. Baking muffins for the "moose" (us) was even more fun! We baked the Banana Crumb Muffins and happily ate and read the book, no jam though.

I love these Lego blocks- I'm not going to lie. I remember when I was little and played with the regular boy lego and always wanted the girl ones. FINALLY they have them. We have a couple sets and finally the girls saved enough to get the Friend Cafe. Today it finally came in the mail! We put it together. We went into several stores. Wal*mart was the cheapest in store price by $5-$10 (compared to Target and Toys'r'us). However, websites they are all about the same. So it took a week to wait for this pin.
It took about an hour to build today, but it was worth it. Great way to have a 95 degree weather day!

Dream Catcher
pbs.org
http://pinterest.com/pin/195765915022736854/
You need:
Feathers
beads
paper place
scissors
yarn
hole punch
paint
So, Hannah is saying she has a lot of bad dreams. I remember being scared of the dark, etc... as a child. I suggested getting a dream catcher to my mom and together she and I built one. Well, they have grown less and less popular (or at least the store is out of them when we wanted to buy a physical one. This easy one using a paper plate is just going to have to do. "The resulting "dream-catcher", hung above the bed, is used as a charm to protect sleeping children from nightmares. As dreamcatchers are made of willow and sinew, they are not meant to last forever but are intended to dry out and collapse as the child enters the age of wonderment.[citation needed]
The Ojibwa believe that a dreamcatcher changes a person's dreams. According to Konrad J. Kaweczynski, "Only good dreams would be allowed to filter through… Bad dreams would stay in the net, disappearing with the light of day."[4] Good dreams would pass through and slide down the feathers to the sleeper." (Wikipedia)
First we painted them the colors we wanted and let them dry. Using an empty salsa container we traced a circle in the middle and cut it out. I didn't have a hole punch, well I do... I don't know where it is, so I had to use my eye lit punch for fabric. Since my holes were smaller than a hole punch hole we had to use my knitting looms needle to thread it through various holes. Every now and then add a bead- this traps the bad dreams.
When we were satisfied we tied it off in the back, added a loop to hang it, and added feathers.

Honestly, I think my six year old is doing better with our photography ideas then me!!
So after a long day at the water park (and sun burned to boot!) we made this quick dessert with out left over strawberries. We cut the tops and hollowed out the strawberries with a spoon. Melted the candy melts. Then we snipped a tip to the candy melts and squeezed the delicious dark chocolate into them. They were great once cooled (but really who could wait!)

So we're going to The Happiest Place on Earth in a little over a month. I'm just as excited as the girls are to be going. To make them not ask "How many more days" EACH day, we decided to make this chain. First we got the colors (Black, yellow, red and white) we cut them into strips (except white, we made little circles for Mickeys buttons to glue onto the red pants. Continue color pattern until you've reached the number you need.

So my husband just got his first real office and the girls and I decided he needed something to hold his pens in. After all, these are supposed to be gifts from them. Not me. I liked the idea of the soup can pen holder, but thought the pin design was too girly. We decided to "man it up" I found a picture of the cover of Black Ops (their favorite game). In paint I resized it and added words.
The magnet buttons were made like this

http://pinterest.com/pin/195765915022818953/edit/
Yesterday I was "deep cleaning" my girls room when I discovered that their dear Lego Friend's tree house had been destroyed, again. I spent a good amount of time the second time digging through their tubs searching and putting it back together. Now I have to do it again, which okay, I don't. But these are the only ones I make a fuss about.
So we actually OWN this kit. The problem, is that I didn't put it together with the girls and never saw it put together... Then the instructions were thrown away (thanks Husband!!). So you ask "Well, what did it look like?" No one can tell me! AH! I knew it was a mini car and that was it! So I had to search pintrest just to find a picture!
So I sorted what I KNEW were Friend/ girly looking Lego pieces (see the tree house? all better)
Basing it on the picture from pintrest I started
Then I was adding the wheel and it wasn't looking right. Finally my six year old looks over and says, "No mom, the base is it's own special piece" Then I gave her that TV "You've got to be kidding me" look and started over
I put it back together the correct way
But can't find the windshield ANYWHERE... I mean I'm looking through this:
and the other pile. It's hopeless, it really wasn't in this pile :( . However, I'm glad I got it this far!
UPDATED: June 20th 2012
I FOUND IT!!!! We were moving some stuff in our daughters room and we found the wind shield and the missing Lego Friend head, yes!

Another Hairy try..
http://thebeautydepartment.com/
http://pinterest.com/pin/195765915022820234/edit/
So I decided to try yet again for a new hair style. I pre sprayed my hair with hair spray (the liquidy kind). I took my hair into sections and pinned them back. Then I used my large barrel curling iron and rolled it upward (Honestly, you have to look at the pin because I'm working by myself today) and curled my hair up
After I curled the whole side I sprayed it with the aerosol can hair spray and gently broke it apart. I got A LOT of volume- too much for my face, so I brushed it down just a little. There are a lot of subtle waves to it that I like :)
This looks way different then the pin straight hair I have. I love it.

First go to the original source and print out the tools. Have your child color those in and with your help tell write what they like about him on them. Next, take a piece of construction paper and fold it to resemble an envelope (more or less). With black construction paper cut out a handle, a yellow square for the latch and blue triangles for... We took a rice a roni box, but it in half and then the top was cut diagonally. Tape a long yellow strip to the inside of the box. With a sharpie, make it look like a ruler, and write something like "Dad, you rule!" or "You rule dad!" on the inside. Attach a piece of tin foil to the end of the yellow strip and place inside the box, tin foil sticking out.
Then wrap it in black construction paper. Add a yellow piece of paper to the box, write a special message on it:

So I am always trying to get that wavy look to my thin fine hair. It looks kinda like Anna Faris'- but not taken care of by professionals. So I braided my iiitty bity hair (haha) and twisted it. Then for good measure sprayed it and left it set. After 5 minutes I took a flat iron to it.
results?
Not so much.
I ended up lightly curling it with the big curling iron and got the results I was looking for. with a bit of hairspray to keep it.

Before:
So we started at the roots and when we needed to color the strands we used the pastel box -

It was a lot of fun to try, and by the end of the day it's almost gone already. She got a lot of compliments and was very excited to show it off today. It does feel kinda sticky, but washes out great (I already washed mine out ;) )
Hailey- she chose pink and it's a little hard to see. Oh well... Kool aid here we come!

Today was the last day of school and to do something fun and temporary, we decided to color Hannah's hair. When I was younger I use to use Kool Aid, but Hannah has light to medium brown hair. I saw this and we had to do it.

Graduation cupcakes

I think Hannah was feeling a little left out that Hailey got to take two sets of treats to school back to back. Since she is graduating first grade tomorrow, I thought I'd surprise her with this pin. I started baking at 6 this morning so they would be cool enough to have the girls help me.
What you'll need:
Cup cakes
Icing
Mini M&M's
Reese's peanut butter cups (or brownie bites- either made or store bought from Safeway)
Chocolate covered graham crackers
Sour patch kid roll (each color strip cut separate for tassel)
Sprinkles
Candy melts or extra frosting (to keep hats together)
Directions;
bake cupcakes according to box. While they are cooling I melted the candy melts into a zip loc. The girls and I had an assembly line on my counter top. I put the melts on the the bottom of the reeses cup (I left the wrapper on because the sides kept breaking when i took them off.) and placed the graham cracker on top. I added more candy melt to the top and each girl would put on a mini M&M and a sour patch string.
When the cakes were cool I frosted the cupcakes and added sprinkles. Originally it was supposed to be just around the rim....but they are six and four that's not gonna happen! Add graduation cap to the top of cupcake.
