Pet bed for American Girl Doll

If you follow my other blog, you know that I am making pet beds for my daughters American Girl Pets. I made one a square one. I saw this circular one this morning and I kind of liked it better for the fabric I was going to use.

Now I admit after reading the blog I got a little confused with her TT measuring...so I just did the best I could. I first took Ginger and chose a good sized circle (ours happened to be 7 1/2 inches round. I trace the container onto my fabric. Then I put batting in between those pieces of fabric.

To make the sides I used strips (folded) one was 20 3/4 inches long and 3 inches high. for the little part where the pet comes in and out i used a 4inch long by 1 1/2 inches high (picture says 3- but it's wrong). Also stuffed with batting. I then pinned it all together and sewed it closed. to give the front a clean look I took the short piece and sandwiched it into the long strip. Then I hemmed the edges closed and sewed them together (the stitches are visible, but I think it looks OK).

Gymnastics Accessories for AG Doll

So I'm starting on Chirstmas a little early. What would my oldest would really really like?  Why McKenna's gym accessories of course! Now, I'm not just talking the hula hoop, the ribbon and the leotard (which she already owns one for her doll anyway). I'm talking the beam as well. As of right now my husband and I plan to make all of this stuff instead of buying a lot of stuff for Christmas- because that is the real meaning of Christmas.

Today I only had enough time to make the ribbon, I still have to go out and buy the materials to make the hula hoops. I took cake rods (you can use kabob sticks) and cut them into a good size (measured it against the dolls hand).

Then I hot glued the ribbon part around the rod (covering the sharp edge). I then wrapped a different color ribbon around  the base once.  Then  added a hair twistie and wrapped the ribbon around and glued it down.

I added a hair twistie so that the girls dolls could hold the ribbon wand by themselves.

Doll book

Super Simple books for any size doll.

You'll need
Paint sample cards
glue
printer paper
scissors

Cut the paint sample down to the size that best fits your doll. Score the white lines to make it bend easier. Cut printer paper to the size of the books and accordion style bend the papers. When you are finished, glue the ends of the paper into the book and let it set. Your dolls now have a diary, school book, sketch book, the limits are endless.

What you'll need:
a piece of fabric: 3x 10 inches
elastic: 4"


Directions:

Cut your spare fabric (or whatever fabric matching the outfit you want it for) into a 3x10inch rectangle. fold in half (right side together) and sew it up. Turn it right side out  and place elastic in the end of the band. Stitch together and repeat on the other side. I folded the raw edge of the fabric in before I sewed it together to give it a clean look.
